GALAXY FOODS "NEW HOT PROCESS" PROTECTS CONSUMERS FROM E. COLI AND OTHER DANGEROUS PATHOGENS, UNLIKE CONVENTIONAL, NATURAL CHEESE MANUFACTURERS

Galaxy Foods Company (NASDAQ: GALX) is pleased to announce to its customers the food safety benefits of Galaxy’s hot processed cheese manufacturing system. The Company ensures the safety of its products by cooking the blended ingredients to a temperature well above pasteurization. The hot processing and "hands-free" packaging system practically eliminates the risk of contamination by serious pathogens including E. Coli (Escherichia coli), Listeria, and Salmonella.

Foodborne illness caused by E. Coli and other pathogens is becoming an increasingly common cause for concern to consumers. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have estimated that there were between 10,000 and 20,000 cases of E. Coli infection last year in the United States. E. Coli can cause intestinal and kidney problems which are potentially fatal, particularly to children and the elderly. Additionally, there were approximately 8,000,000 cases of food poisoning last year, including an estimated 30,000 fatalities which can be attributed to food poisoning. These staggering statistics have no place in a modern or any society.

Galaxy’s new hot process for manufacturing cheese products is an improvement over the old cheese processes in which milk is pasteurized and bacteria cultures are introduced at 85 degrees Fahrenheit. All conventional natural cheese manufactured in the United States is made using the old cold process; whereas, all of Galaxy’s products are produced using the safer, hot process. The old process increases the risk of contamination throughout the manufacturing process because only the milk is pasteurized. In addition, Galaxy eliminates the risk of contamination to their products from plant workers by having a "hands-free" manufacturing process. This exceptional "hands-free" method continues throughout the manufacturing process; from the initial ingredient stage through to the final packaging stage.

Angelo S. Morini, Galaxy’s President stated, "We value the relationships we have with our customers above all else. We will continually strive to ensure our products are great tasting, healthy and free of harmful bacteria or contamination. We have been committed to food safety since our inception in 1980 and have always employed our modern hot process to ensure the safety of all of our products."
