Where Can I Buy Your Products?
At your favorite supermarkets, Galaxy's Veggie brand products, Wholesome Valley Organic Slices, and Galaxy brand products may be found in the dairy case or in the produce section. If you previously purchased formgg products and can no longer find them, please look for our Veggie brand products. You may call (800) 808-2325 to listen to a recorded list of supermarkets in your area.

In health food stores, our products are sold under the Soyco and Soymage brand names. Soyco products include Veggy Singles and Rice Slices. Dairy-free Soymage products are the perfect solution if you are vegan or are allergic to dairy products. If you do not find the products you are looking for, please have your store contact their distributor.

In restaurants, you can taste our delicious formgg low fat mozzarella at Sbarro, the Italian Eatery. Sbarro offers a veggie pizza with formagg at most of their 700 locations nationwide.

What is casein? Does casein contain lactose?
Our formgg, Veggie Slices, Soyco and Rice products are made using casein, which is derived from skim milk. Casein is the main protein of skim milk and is separated from the milk by a special process that removes most of the milk components, leaving pure dairy protein. Casein has no animal fat or cholesterol. There are trace amounts of lactose in casein, but not enough to be a problem for people who are lactose intolerant. Our Veggie Slices and Rice Slices contain approximately 7 grams of casein per oz.

What products do you have for vegans or people who are allergic to milk?
If you are vegan or if you are allergic to milk products, please try our Soymage products which are completely dairy-free, as stated in bold print on the front of the package. If you wish to purchase only dairy-free cheese alternatives, please look for the words "dairy-free" on the front of the manufacturer's package. Terms such as "lactose-free" and "veggie" or "rice" do not mean dairy-free. Our Soymage products, which are sold in health food stores, are free of casein, and any animal products or by-products, including rennet.

Why has the Kosher designation changed on the products?
We are now affiliated with a kashruth located in Jerusalem, Israel. Rabbis from Jerusalem and the USA recently visited Galaxy and approved our ingredients and procedures for kosher and pareve production. It is under strict supervision of this kashruth that Galaxys kosher products will be produced for both the Israeli market and certain U.S. accounts, respectfully HONORING Jewish custom. Currently, all the Soymage products bear the pareve symbol, and we expect the new kosher certification to be available some time this Fall.

Do you have gluten-free products suitable for celiacs?
Our formgg, Veggie Slices, Soyco and Soymage products are gluten-free. The only retail product that we manufacture which may not be suitable for celiacs, or those avoiding gluten, would be our Galaxy brand "Sandwich Slices." This product contains wheat starch that is practically free of gluten.

Do your products contain MSG? What is in the "natural flavors?"
In addition to being cholesterol-free and lactose-free, our branded products contain no MSG, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, active yeast, mold, or cultures. They also do not contain artificial flavors or colors as defined by the FDA. We do use inactivated yeast extract as a natural flavor. All Soyco and Soymage products contain no preservatives; however, our Veggie brand products do contain minimal amounts of sorbic acid, a preservative. The source of maltodextrin is corn and/or rice. Dairy-free Soymage products contain no animal products or by-products, including casein or rennet. The natural flavorings, which are not manufactured by Galaxy Foods, are made with FDA approved ingredients and do not compromise the integrity of the product.

What are the tiny white spots on the cheese?
White spots sometimes occur after the product has left the plant. This phenomenon, referred to as "salting out," is due to products being frozen or stored under conditions that are too cold. The spots do not damage the product or interfere with the taste.

There is lactic acid in your products. Isnt this the same as lactose?
Although the terms are confusingly similar, the lactic acid does not contain lactose. Lactose, a milk sugar, is a carbohydrate. Lactic acid is an acidulant that adds tartness and controls acidity. They are two entirely different substances.

Do the products have to be refrigerated?
All of our products, except the grated toppings, should be refrigerated at all times. The expiration date is on the package. Since our products are made with all natural ingredients, we ask that you use these products as quickly as possible after the package is opened in order to prevent spoilage. The grated parmesan toppings are shelf stable products and do not have to be refrigerated until after they are opened. They will keep for several weeks under refrigeration.

Can I use these cheese products in my regular recipes?
In general, you may use your own recipes and substitute any of our dairy alternatives keeping in mind that cooking times may vary when substituting low-fat products in recipes calling for high-fat dairy products.

Our low-fat cheese slices and chunks melt beautifully and slightly faster than regular cheese. If you shred the chunks, the cheese will melt better if covered. Shreds are great on a salad or sprinkled as a garnish over a main dish. All of our sour cream alternatives are terrific when used as a topping or dip and all of our grated products can be used in cooking or as a topping. Because they are dairy-free, Soymage slices and chunks have a slight melt.
